Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish delivered an emotional tribute to his late brother after scoring in his team’s recent match.
The England international revealed that the day marked the 25th anniversary of his brother’s passing, making it an especially difficult time for his family.
Speaking after the game, Grealish opened up about the personal significance of his goal, stating, “My little brother passed away 25 years ago today. This day is always hard in the family, but I was happy to score.”
His words reflected both the sorrow and pride he felt as he honored his sibling’s memory in the best way possible—by performing on the pitch.
Grealish’s parents were in attendance for the match, making the moment even more special.
“My mum and dad were here. This day is always difficult in the family. So to score and to win was brilliant,” he added. His performance not only helped City secure a crucial victory but also served as a deeply personal tribute to his late brother.
The 28-year-old has spoken in the past about the impact his brother’s passing had on his life. Grealish’s younger brother, Keelan Daniel Grealish, tragically died as an infant due to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
