Iten and Kapsowar town Roads improvement!

Improvement of roads within Iten town and Kapsowar are expected to be ready in three months.
Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) North Rift Director Eng. Edwin Limo said the roads which are being improved to bitumen standards by December.
While briefing Governor Wisley Rotich during a tour of the roads, Eng. Limo said all earthworks were complete and the contractors were currently working on the pavements and drainage systems.
“We are on course. Much of the work has been done. We will be ready by December, ” he assured the governor at Moi Garage in Kapsowar town where about 1.5 kilometres of road is being improved.
A similar distance is also getting a new shape within Iten town where residents of Lillies who have in the past contented with muddy mornings especially during the rainy season will now be walking on a macadamised road.
This will also bring to an end a culture where residents of the famous suburb walk with a pair of shoes while carrying another in their bags so as to change at the main road or their offices during rainy days.
“Hii lami imetuokolea sana. Sasa hakuna kubeba viatu extra na kuruka hop step and jump!”(The new road will rescue us. No more carrying extra shoes and hoping to escape mud and dirty water), said Ruth Shiko, a teacher and Lillies resident.
Governor Rotich commended the contractors and urged them to ensure that they move fast to complete the works within set timelines. “I can see this is good progress. I hope you complete the construction within the stipulated time,” he said.
Mr Rotich urged plot owners to ensure that they observe boundaries and not put up structures on the road reserves.
He thanked Roads and Infrastructure CS Kipchumba Murkomen for what he termed as his continued support. He added that he will be negotiating with other government and non state agencies to ensure that all town roads in the county are improved.
