Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed optimism about Kevin De Bruyne’s recovery, indicating that the Belgian midfielder has shown “a step forward” in overcoming his recent injury issues.

De Bruyne, who has been a crucial figure for City, faced a prolonged period on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury suffered in the season opener.

However, Guardiola shared that medical assessments are showing positive signs, with De Bruyne making progress toward managing his pain and potentially nearing a return to the field.

De Bruyne’s influence on Manchester City has been profound. Known for his remarkable vision and playmaking, he holds the club record for most assists, totaling 166 across all competitions as of this year.

In the Premier League alone, he has registered 113 assists, placing him among the top assist providers in the league’s history. He achieved a milestone of 100 Premier League assists faster than any other player, reaching it in just 237 games, surpassing Cesc Fabregas’s previous record of 293 games. De Bruyne is also Manchester City’s 18th player to reach 100 goals, underscoring his dual threat as both a scorer and provider.

With Manchester City currently contending for titles across domestic and international competitions, De Bruyne’s return could be pivotal. Guardiola’s cautious optimism reflects the team’s hope to reintegrate De Bruyne’s talent into the squad, a player whose play has been instrumental in City’s recent trophy successes, including their Premier League and Champions League titles.
