Government set to launch new Digital ID’s, terms Huduma namba a fraud!
We must demonstrate in the next 90 days that it is possible for us to have a digital ID without spending Ksh. 15 billion and defrauding our citizens.

President William Ruto has disclosed that the previous government under former President Uhuru Kenyatta lost over Ksh.15 billion in the launch of the controversial Huduma namba project.
President Ruto on Friday termed the project “a complete fraud” as he announced that the government will execute a much similar project within 90 days.
“The Huduma namba was a complete fraud as we lost almost Ksh.15 billion and got nothing out of it.” Stated President Ruto
The Huduma namba, a digital ID, was intended to be a unique and permanent personal identifier assigned to every Kenyan Citizen.
Huduma Number was expected to capture biometric and other information data from birth to death of all Kenyan Citizens .
Dr Ruto spoke at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) during the release of over 5,000 digital government services on the e Citizen Kenya Portal labeled ‘Gava Mikononi’
The Head of State said that unlike the Huduma namba the current government will launch its digital ID project at a much lesser price tag.
“We must demonstrate in the next 90 days that it is possible for us to have a digital ID without spending Ksh. 15 billion and defrauding our citizens.
The ‘Gava Mikononi’ app is being acclaimed as one that will enhance access to e-government services and improve the revenue collection and also service deliveries.
