The meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Health offices, focused on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and enhancing maternal and child health (MCH) services.

These issues have been identified as critical areas requiring immediate intervention to improve the overall health and well-being of Emgwen residents.

During the discussions, Mr. Kimtai emphasized the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services, noting that collaboration with local leaders is essential in achieving tangible results.

“This engagement highlights our commitment to better healthcare and disease prevention for Emgwen and beyond,” he stated.

One of the key concerns raised was the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer in the region.

Both leaders acknowledged the need for enhanced public awareness campaigns, improved screening programs, and better access to treatment facilities to combat these ailments effectively.

Maternal and child health services were also a focal point of the discussions. Hon. Lelmengit underscored the importance of equipping healthcare facilities with adequate resources to ensure safe deliveries and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

He further emphasized the need for improved access to prenatal and postnatal care, as well as vaccination programs for young children.
