Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua interacted with Kenyans based in Los Angeles, Southern California, as part of his ongoing two-month visit to the United States. His visit is aimed at popularizing the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Gachagua valued the diaspora Kenyans for their strong conviction in the future of Kenya. He asserted that their work, responsibility, and worry could lead to success at home if supplemented by good systems.

“I am glad they are interested in what is happening in our motherland. What annoys them annoys me as well. What is the same thing all Kenyans yearn for is the same — agony has to end,” he stated.

He listed top priorities healthcare, security, economic development, infrastructure, and education. He said the government must act in these sectors to raise the standard of living for all.

Gachagua urged the diaspora to stay engaged and involved with development in Kenya. He praised their effort in supporting families, investing in projects back home, and transferring skills. According to him, the inputs increase the economy and raise social stability.
The former Deputy President also promised to campaign for reforms that will bring balanced government and equal opportunity. For him, a good healthcare system will protect citizens, and a secure environment will ensure investment. Better infrastructure, he continued, will open up new economic opportunities.

Gachagua emphasized that the DCP is determined to come up with viable solutions and not mere political antics. He assured the diaspora public that the party will involve the people in all levels of policy-making. He clarified that public participation is essential in building a people-centric government.

His tour of the US has also included meetings with Kenyan communities in several cities. At each stop, he has given his vision of a country where citizens live good services, security, and opportunity without unnecessary obstacles.

Gachagua concluded by calling for unity and resolve. With good leadership and harmony, Kenya could overcome its challenges and achieve a future where everyone can prosper, he told him.
