Eldoret:Two bodaboda riders and a woman face murder charges!

An Eldoret court has directed that three people, among them a woman
linked to the brutal murder of a 20 year old teenager, be taken for
mental assessment.

In her ruling Senior Resident Magistrate Rosemary Onkoba ordered
Juliet Ayieta, Paul Osinde and Gregory Mukhori both boda boda ridersto
undergo mental tests at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital to
confirm their fitness to stand trial.

“The suspects should be escorted by the police officers to Moi
Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for mental assessment to
confirm whether they are fit to stand trial,” ordered the Senior
Resident Magistrate.

She further directed that the first accused be remanded at Eldoret GK
women prison while the two be taken to the Eldoret GK men prison
respectively.

They are accused of killing Ahmed Mohamud Ismael on June 2nd 2023 at
West Indies estate in Turbo sub county Uasin Gishu County.

The suspects are said to have subjected the deceased to mob justice on
the fateful day in connection with the theft of a mobile phone
belonging to a college student.

The slain teenager was attacked with stones and other weapons by a mob
led by the three suspects after the college student raised an alarm to
the effect that the deceased had stolen her phone.

According to the police report, the angry mob pursued and got up with
the teenager where they allegedly stoned him to death at the gate of
the hostel where the victim was staying.

The accused persons who have been in custody at the Eldoret central
police station since they were arrested over the murder of the
teenager are represented by lawyer Elijah Ayiego.
