Eldoret:Security multi agency team raids posh estate,nets hundreds of illicit liquor!

A security multi agency team led by the national police and officers drawn from the Uasin Gishu County alcoholic drinks control board,Friday night netted over 19 drums of ethanol and 77cartons of two brands of 2nd generation liquor.
The Deputy county police commander Turbo Sub-county, Edward Masibo says the 19 drums of ethanol are suspected to be used in the production of the counterfeit Silver Star brand and Golden dream.
“Acting from a tip off from a credible informer regarding the production and packaging of second generation alcoholic drinks , our team swam into action to this place and we were able to recover the 19 drums of ethanol and 77 cartons of counterfeit liquor” Said the deputy police boss.
One person has been arrested and she will be helping our officers with the investigations to also determine all those involved in this racket and establish its market.He added.
Koiya Arap Maiyo the Uasin Gishu County director Alcoholic drinks control board noted that most of the high end estates have been converted into the production of the illicit second generation alcoholic drinks following a sustained multi agency crack down on other illicit brews,
“The days of unscrupulous sale , production of illicit brew and the second generation liquor has come to an end ,we will firmly and decisively deal with all those found culpable regardless of where they carry out their illicit trade whether in posh estates or in the villages ” he warned
The successful crack down happened barely one day after a multi agency security meeting led by the Uasin Gishu County commissioner Dr Eddyson Nyale and Uasin Gishu Police Boss Benjamin Mwanthi that declared total eradication of the illicit brews following a previous regional meeting held in Nakuru county and led by the deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
