The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has initiated an investigation to determine whether Ksh.5 million in public funds was improperly used to fund an extravagant housewarming event for the Vihiga County Assembly Speaker.

The commission sent a request for document release and inquiry support information on February 12, 2026, to the Vihiga County Assembly Clerk.

The document request includes original documents or certified requisition papers from the user department and approved budget documents for the 2023/2024 financial year and other relevant documents as well as all procurement records and payment vouchers and any additional materials related to the event.

EACC, through its Central Nyanza Regional Manager, Abraham Kemboi, established February 13, 2026 as the deadline for document submission. He indicated that the commission’s officers, Brian Shigoli and Kevin Lagat, or any other authorized EACC official, would be available to receive the requested information.
