Chebisaas Boys Rugby 15s Open Tournament Advances to Knockout Stage After Thrilling Group Battles

The Chebisaas Boys Rugby 15s Open Tournament has entered its decisive knockout phase following a fiercely contested group stage that produced a compelling blend of dominant victories, narrow margins, and resilient performances across all pools. With fifteen teams competing for top honours, the preliminary round delivered high-quality rugby and set the stage for an exciting quarterfinal lineup.
Kilimani emerged as one of the standout teams of the group stage, underlining their credentials with emphatic performances. They dismantled Kurgong 29–00 before sealing a commanding 24–00 victory over Arnesens, results that comfortably secured their place in the last eight.
St Joseph’s Boys Kitale also impressed with a composed and disciplined campaign. They opened with a hard-fought 12–07 win over Sang’alo and followed it up with a narrow 05–00 victory against Baringo to progress confidently into the knockout rounds.
Tournament hosts Chebisaas Boys thrilled home supporters with a dominant 31–00 triumph over Kurgong, before showcasing composure and tactical maturity in a 13–07 win over Laboret to book their quarterfinal slot.
Warreng demonstrated their ability to grind out results under pressure, edging KMTC 03–00 and later overcoming Kipsigat 05–03 in two tightly contested encounters to advance.
Iten Day secured qualification after battling to a scoreless draw against Kipsombe and then clinching a crucial 03–00 victory over Kipsaos. Kipsombe, meanwhile, confirmed their place in the quarterfinals with a commanding 21–00 win over UoE High.
St Patrick’s Iten joined the knockout lineup following a narrow but decisive 03–00 victory over KMTC, while Laboret also progressed after recording wins against Sang’alo and Baringo, despite suffering a defeat to Chebisaas.
With the group stage concluded, focus now shifts to the quarterfinals, where the remaining contenders will battle for a place in the semifinals.
