Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has urged members of Generation Z to assume critical roles within the church to effect meaningful changes that will transform the country.
Ole Sapit emphasized that the youth should not merely occupy the church to silence politicians but should also reflect on how the country has reached its current state.
He further stated that the most effective way for young people to engage with the church is to fully participate in its activities, such as joining the choir. “For a long time, I struggled to make the pulpit a no-go zone for politicians, but thanks to the young people who made that happen,” he said.
Speaking at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Ahero, Diocese of Maseno East, Sapit expressed his confidence in Generation Z as the future driving force of the country’s politics.
The Archbishop also praised Mr. Owiti for his leadership, wished him well upon his retirement, and hoped that he would continue to find time for them even as he leaves office.
Sapit declared the Diocese of Maseno East vacant and announced that the call for nominations for Owiti’s successor would take one month. “Any priest in good standing within the ACK church is eligible for election, whether male or female,” he assured, emphasizing that there will be no room for favoritism.
