Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed any concerns over Jude Bellingham’s recent lack of goals, emphasizing the midfielder’s broader contributions to the team.
While Bellingham has made an explosive start to his debut season at Real Madrid, there have been questions about his recent dip in scoring.
However, Ancelotti remains unfazed, praising the 20-year-old’s overall impact on the pitch.
Speaking to the media, Ancelotti said, “He’s very good, he’s getting better. He’s in a good condition. His goals are not important for us.”
The Italian coach was quick to point out that Bellingham’s value to Real Madrid extends beyond just finding the back of the net.
Since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in a €103 million deal in the summer of 2023, Bellingham has adapted quickly to life in La Liga.
The English midfielder made headlines early in the season with his remarkable goal-scoring form, netting 10 goals in his first 10 appearances for the club.
His performances earned him widespread acclaim, including comparisons to some of Madrid’s greatest midfielders.
However, as the season progresses, Bellingham’s goal-scoring form has cooled. Despite this, Ancelotti remains confident in the midfielder’s development and role within the team.
“His qualities are others. He knows how important he is for our game,” Ancelotti added. The Real Madrid manager highlighted Bellingham’s ability to control the tempo of the game, create chances, and contribute defensively as key elements of his importance to the squad.
Bellingham’s versatility has been one of the standout aspects of his game. Playing in an advanced midfield role, he has been given the freedom to roam across the pitch, contributing both defensively and offensively.
His intelligence on and off the ball has allowed him to link up play effectively with Real Madrid’s forwards, often serving as the catalyst for attacking movements.
Ancelotti’s confidence in Bellingham reflects the midfielder’s growing influence in Madrid’s system.
With Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos transitioning into more supporting roles, Bellingham has stepped up as a central figure in Madrid’s midfield rebuild.
His presence has provided balance, allowing other players like Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo to flourish in the final third.
As Real Madrid continues to challenge for silverware on multiple fronts this season, Bellingham’s form and contributions will be crucial.
Ancelotti’s words make it clear that while goals are a bonus, Bellingham’s true value lies in his all-round abilities and his influence on Madrid’s overall play.
