Neighbors in Action Organization (NIAK), has unveiled the I-Monitor Tool, a system which is meant to provide solutions for health challenges facing the community.
According to the programs officer Winnie Jelagat, the mobile application will be used by the community to monitor health service delivery at the county health facilities.
“Through this system the County government will have an opportunity to respond to whatever issues that would have been raised by members of the public regarding certain health provision services at any of the facilities without having to disclose their identities, The civil society will also help in advocacy of the raised concerns”, said Jelagat.
She spoke after meeting the civil societies in Uasin Gishu County to sensitize them on the I-Monitoring Tool that will create a paradigm shift in the provision of health services within the County.

“Today we have engaged the Civil Societies and the Journalists regarding the use of the I-Monitoring tool ,with the devolved system of governance all solutions emanate from members of the community and that is why this mobile application is essential in empowering the communities to monitor Health service Provision,” she added.
She says depending on the challenges facing the community the tool will help them advocate for more resources and timely service delivery.
“It’s a good tool that is going to give mwananchi an opportunity to advocate for whatever change and service they need at any of over the 100 County health facilities.
Health provision is a Key function of the County Governments and more often is faced by unique challenges such as lack of enough human resource , lack of adequate infrastructure as well as medical supplies ,The i-monitoring tool will help members of the public as well as County Governments to address some of the challenges in real time,” said Neighbors In Action programs officer.
The organization has indicated plans to train health care providers in the county on the importance of the tool citing that this will ease service delivery within the health care sector.

Bernadine Kipruto, the Chairperson Uasin Gishu Civil society’s organization said the I-monitor tool is an application that is going to enable the community to monitor activities or initiatives on the ground in the health dispensaries and centers.
“We had the opportunity of bringing together over 20 civil society organizations to be sensitized on the I-Monitoring Tool, the beauty about it is that its evidence based and therefore it will enable the civil societies advocate for the needs of the community with a lot of ease, We are working closely with the county government to ensure service delivery is effective as promised by Governor Jonathan Bii,” she said
Sentiments that were also shared by other civil society members led by Human Rights defender for the Street connected youth Juma Akumu.
