Former nominated Member of Parliament Wilson Sossion has strongly refuted accusations suggesting government involvement in orchestrating the recent fire incident at Parliament and vandalism of other public structures.
Sossion categorically denied any government directive to enlist individuals to commit such acts, emphasizing that it would contradict the nation’s efforts and achievements over the years.
“The government would not undermine its entire efforts achieved throughout the years by employing entities to destroy the nation’s public resources,” Sossion affirmed.
His remarks follow claims by individuals, purportedly hired during protests, alleging non-payment by a politician for their services rendered.
“Did the government plan to burn the Supreme Court, the county government’s office, the Parliament? I think that is a wrong allegation,” he stated.
Regarding the invasion of Parliament, Sossion highlighted the complex dynamics involved. “The invasion of Parliament, we cannot say that it is the police who allowed. The media was there; when you have such a huge group surging into Parliament, the police had no choice but to retreat,” he explained.
Sossion further clarified that an investigative report indicates that other groups funded what he termed syndicate activities, reiterating that the government had no role in financing such individuals.
The statements by Sossion underscore the ongoing debate and investigations surrounding the recent unrest and allegations of external influence on protests and public disturbances.
