Gilbert Mungu, a Rwandese behind Londiani killer truck detained!

Gilbert Mutuye Mungu, a Rwandese national who was behind the wheels of a truck that killed 52 people in Londiani last month has been detained.

The truck driver appeared before Molo Law Court on Thursday, where he was denied bail.

Chief Magistrate Ellena Nderitu stated that the court is in agreement with the prosecution saying that the driver is not a Kenyan Citizen and there are high chances of him absconding court sessions.

The suspect will be in police custody until his case is heard and determined. The case is to be heard on August 30,2023.

Gilbert is currently facing 90 charges inclusive of dangerous driving, which led to a loss of 52 lives and damages to 10 vehicles.

In a previous interview Mutunye shared that the accident occurred due to a brake failure.
