The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition has called upon Kenyans to join the labeled ‘Sufuria movement’ bandwagon beginning tomorrow as the three-day anti-government demonstrations start.
Speaking at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation on Tuesday, the Narc leader Martha Karua explained that the movement will signify the food deficiency in the country which has escalated due to the high cost of living.
According to Martha Karua, the countrywide movement will get the ball rolling at around midday on Wednesday and will continue till late as the protesters have been aligned with three main convergence points; Joseph Kang’ethe, Kamkunji, and Jacaranda grounds.
The motorists have also been urged to join the movement hooting and flashing.
“At midday tomorrow, we ask Kenyans to come out of their homes and bang sufurias, pots, and pans to indicate a deficiency of food. The sufuria movement will commence tomorrow and will continue until the fight is won.”She stated.
Karua pleaded with Kenyans to resort to citizen journalism and capture state officers inclusive of the police and even politicians who abuse and brutalize protesters while on duty, she adds it will greatly help in the investigations.
The coalition asserts its stand on holding the protests despite the warnings from the government, Karua also noted that the signature collection exercise is still in process and has surpassed the 6 million mark
“We are pleased to announce this morning we have hit over 6 million signatures of Kenyans who are fed up with President Ruto’s regime. We encourage Kenyans to continue placing their signatures against Ruto and Gachaguas governance” She said.
