Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused the United States of failing to provide sufficient support for Ukraine as a wave of Russian attacks kills dozens of people and leaves hundreds wounded.

Zelensky made the remarks after a Russian aerial bomb struck two passenger buses in the eastern city of Kramatorsk on Thursday, October 8, killing at least 30 people, according to Ukrainian authorities. The president later said the death toll from Russian strikes across the country had reached 78 over two days, with 215 others injured.

The attack formed part of an intensifying Russian assault that has hit residential areas, transport facilities and critical infrastructure as Ukraine prepares for winter.

Zelensky accused Washington of pursuing economic engagement with Moscow while failing to provide the military assistance Kyiv needs to defend its population.

He called on US President Donald Trump to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin through tougher sanctions and additional military support.

“Open Starlink for Ukraine,” Zelensky urged, calling for expanded access to the satellite communications network to help Ukrainian forces counter Russian missile attacks and locate ballistic missile launch sites.

The Ukrainian leader argued that stronger air defences and improved military capabilities would help protect civilians and increase pressure on Moscow to negotiate an end to the war.
