President William Ruto is expected to preside over the centenary celebrations of the Kenya School of Government (KSG) on Monday, marking 100 years of the institution’s role in shaping Kenya’s public service while launching a fresh conversation on the country’s economic future.

The event, to be held at the institution’s Lower Kabete campus in Nairobi, will bring together senior government officials, diplomats, scholars and policy experts for a high-level dialogue focused on national wealth creation, governance and global competitiveness.

The celebrations come as the government seeks to strengthen public sector performance and position Kenya as a more competitive economy through institutional reforms and leadership development.

According to the programme, President Ruto will unveil the Kenya School of Government’s centenary commemorative plaque before officially opening the policy forum.

He is also expected to launch the Raila Odinga Regional Leadership and Governance Academy plaque, sign the visitors’ book and receive a briefing highlighting the institution’s achievements over the past century.

The Head of State will later address delegates, outlining the government’s vision for transforming public service into a key driver of economic growth and efficient service delivery.

A major highlight of the event will be a panel discussion examining Kenya’s economic transformation agenda and strategies for improving the country’s position in the global economy.

The session will feature Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o alongside ambassadors representing China, France, Italy and Azerbaijan. South Korean academic Jeom Seok Baek is also expected to share international perspectives on governance, leadership and development.

The centenary programme will further recognize graduates from various public service training programmes, with outstanding candidates receiving awards for academic excellence and leadership.

Senior government officials scheduled to address the gathering include Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, Public Service Principal Secretary Jane Imbunya and Labour Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime.

The afternoon session will shift attention to long-term policy priorities, with experts leading discussions on reforms aimed at accelerating Kenya’s economic development. The conversations are expected to cover public service modernization, education, agriculture, innovation and policy changes designed to strengthen national productivity and improve Kenya’s competitiveness in regional and global markets.

The Kenya School of Government has played a central role in training civil servants, state officers and public sector leaders since its establishment a century ago. The institution has evolved into one of the country’s principal centres for leadership development, governance research and policy training.

Government officials say the centenary celebration is not only a reflection on the institution’s history but also an opportunity to chart a new course for public administration that supports sustainable economic growth and responsive governance as Kenya pursues its long-term development agenda.
