Two police officers, including an Officer Commanding Station (OCS), have been arrested following a shooting incident at a nightclub in Eldoret town on Friday night.
According to a police report filed at Eldoret Police Station, the incident occurred at Baniyas Night Club, located approximately two kilometres from the station.
The two officers visited the club at 12:30 p.m. to place their meal and alcohol beverage order and they stayed at the entertainment venue for multiple hours.
The club incident began at 9:00 p.m. when officers and a waiter started a confrontation.
During the altercation, one of the officers allegedly became aggressive, drew a pistol and fired a single shot inside the premises, causing panic among revellers.
The club’s bouncers succeeded in disarming the officer after they took immediate action and notified the police.
The police operation led by Eldoret Police Station OCS arrested the two suspects after they reached the crime scene.
Police discovered a Ceska pistol which contained 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition and they found one spent cartridge at the nightclub.
Authorities further said they recovered KSh673,000 in cash, five Euros, 15 US dollars and 10 Polish zloty from the suspects during a search.
