Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has appointed Naiyanoi Ntutu Ng’eno widow of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, to the board of the Information and Communication Technology Authority (ICTA).
According to a gazette notice dated April 2, Naiyanoi has been appointed as a board member for a period of three years, with the appointment taking effect immediately.
Her appointment was welcomed by ICTA Board Chairperson Lily Ng’ok Kirui, who expressed confidence in her ability to contribute to the authority’s mandate.
“Welcome to the Information and Communication Technology Authority (ICTA) Board Mrs. Naiyanoi Ntutu Ng’eno. I am looking forward to working closely with you. I have no doubt in your abilities and the contribution you will make to the team. Together, we will fulfil our collective mandate,” Kirui said in a statement shared on social media.
Naiyanoi rose to national attention following the tragic death of her husband, Johana Ng’eno, who died in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026, alongside five other individuals.
In the aftermath of the incident, she was endorsed by a section of leaders to contest the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat left vacant by her late husband. However, she declined the offer.
Her appointment to the ICTA board places her among key figures tasked with guiding Kenya’s digital transformation agenda, including the development and implementation of ICT policies and infrastructure.
The move signals continued efforts by the government to strengthen governance structures within the ICT sector as it drives forward the country’s digital economy strategy.
