An Eldoret Member of County Assembly (MCA), Carolyne Cherono, has unveiled a new initiative aimed at promoting the achievements of President William Ruto and his administration.

Speaking in Eldoret, Cherono said the campaign will focus on sensitizing the public about the progress made under the Kenya Kwanza government over the past three years. The initiative will involve roadshows, public forums, and community engagements designed to highlight key development projects and policies implemented during President Ruto’s tenure.

Cherono, a nominated MCA in the Uasin Gishu County Assembly representing gender interests, said she feels a strong responsibility to promote the agenda of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). She noted that her efforts are guided by the party’s manifesto, popularly known as “The Plan,” which formed the basis of President Ruto’s successful election campaign.

According to Cherono, the manifesto, also referred to as the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) focuses on transforming Kenya’s economy by prioritizing job creation, infrastructure development, poverty reduction, and improved access to essential services such as healthcare and education.

“The initiative we are launching here in Eldoret is to go out and tell Kenyans that the president’s plan is working, and we can already see the results in key sectors of the economy,” she said.

She pointed to several flagship projects and programs as evidence of progress, including affordable housing, infrastructure expansion, market development, and youth empowerment initiatives such as the Nyota programme. She also cited improved food production, attributing it to the government’s fertilizer subsidy program, which has enabled farmers to access inputs on time and boost yields.

Cherono said these efforts have contributed to increased food availability, making it easier for many households to put food on the table. She added that job creation, particularly among the youth, has improved through government-backed programs that support entrepreneurship and income-generating activities.

Drawing from her international exposure, Cherono noted that she had visited Singapore and witnessed firsthand how affordable housing programs transformed livelihoods. She expressed confidence that Kenya is on a similar path under President Ruto’s leadership.

“Our objective is to go out and tell our people including hustlers and mama mboga that it is now possible for them to own homes through the affordable housing programme, even with limited resources,” she said.

On healthcare, Cherono defended the rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA), saying it is already benefiting many Kenyans despite initial challenges. She noted that the government is working to streamline the system to ensure all citizens can access quality and affordable healthcare.

“We have testimonies from many Kenyans who have benefited from SHA, and that is the message we want to take to the ground as we also encourage more people to register,” she added.

Cherono emphasized that lack of awareness remains a major barrier preventing many Kenyans from benefiting from government programs. She said the outreach campaign is designed to bridge this gap by providing clear and accessible information to communities.

She also noted that the purchasing power of many Kenyans is stabilizing, partly due to increased employment opportunities and economic interventions introduced by the government.

The initiative, spearheaded by women leaders in Eldoret, will culminate in a major street roadshow in the town. The event is expected to showcase success stories from various government programs while also serving as a platform to recruit more residents into initiatives such as SHA and other national development schemes.

Cherono expressed optimism that the campaign will not only inform the public but also inspire greater participation in government programs aimed at improving livelihoods.
