Government Unveils Ksh2.1 Billion Electrification Plan for Kilifi as Development Projects Expand

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki defended government development achievements while he explained current and upcoming Kilifi County projects. He stated in the public awareness forum at Kakanjuni Trading Centre that the current administration executes development programs throughout every part of the country.

The government assessment of major Kilifi North projects includes the evaluation of the affordable housing project in Kenzo which is building 1,000 homes. The project received Ksh1 billion in funding which serves as a national housing initiative to improve access to affordable decent housing.

The Deputy President disclosed that the government has given Ksh177 billion to contractors for road construction projects which had been temporarily halted. The funding contributed to the establishment of approximately 6,000 kilometers of roadways throughout the country. He reported that Kilifi County is working on 385 kilometers of tarmac road construction, with 56 kilometers currently undergoing tarmacking after contractors received Ksh2 billion.

Kindiki revealed his plans to invest heavily in rural electrification while he announced his investments for road and housing projects. He reported that Mpirani will receive electricity connection for 155 households, while the county will implement a Ksh2.1 billion program to improve electricity access for residents. The initiative aims to connect an additional 23,589 households. He stated that Ksh382 million has been dedicated to provide electricity connections for 4,000 homes in Ganze Constituency.

The Deputy President discussed market infrastructure by explaining that new market facilities are under construction in multiple areas throughout the county. He highlighted ongoing and planned development work in Mtwapa, Watamu, and Mnarani. The construction of Ganze Market will start after Ramadan according to him while Ksh57 million has been allocated for Mkuruni ESP Market.

The government provides equal development support to every area which Kindiki emphasized in his statement. He maintained that Nyanza, Western, Central, and Rift Valley receive equal government attention as Coast, North Eastern, and Nairobi regions do.

He accused opposition leaders from the administration of trying to mislead the public about government progress because he had formerly held a governmental role. He claimed that those leaders should not mislead citizens about how the government functions.

William Ruto has been instrumental in building national unity through his establishment of an inclusive government according to Kindiki. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM sh)ould continue to strengthen its organizational structure according to him while the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) works as their partner in the government. The parties will maintain their friendly political relationship while they continue to work together within the government according to him.
