Lawyers throughout the country exercise their voting rights to begin the first election round for the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) which will determine the new leadership of the Society and shape the upcoming development of the legal profession.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) elections reached their official voting start time today when citizens began to vote in the elections which will decide the future leadership of the Society and determine the upcoming development of the legal profession.
Lawyers across the country are casting their ballots at designated polling centres to elect new officials to steer the organization. The elections come at a pivotal moment, with the legal fraternity continuing to play a key role in governance, constitutionalism, and the protection of the rule of law.
The presidential election includes lawyer Peter Wanyama, Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama, and Mwaura Kabata as candidates. The candidates presented their campaign agendas during the election period by showing their plans to improve law enforcement, protect lawyer rights, and boost the Society’s influence in national matters. Campaign activities officially concluded yesterday ahead of today’s vote.
The elections are taking place just a year before the country heads to the general election, a factor observers believe heightens the significance of the outcome, given the Society’s strong stance on matters of public interest and governance.
The voting process will continue throughout the entire day at court locations situated throughout the country, with election results expected to arrive following the completion of vote counting.
