Nairobi Hosts Major Global Tourism Conference Led by Rebecca Miano
The initiatives will develop resilience measures which show sustainable development progress to help the world track its progress and create successful solutions.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, EGH, has reiterated Kenya’s dedication to developing a resilient sustainable tourism industry which will guide the country into its future after Kenya successfully hosted the 4th Global Tourism Resilience Day Conference and Expo in Nairobi.
The two-day conference brought together more than 1,000 delegates who included tourism ministers from the Caribbean and Europe and Asia. The event operated as an international summit which enabled participants to build connections and share knowledge while they worked together to create a more robust tourism sector. Nairobi established itself as Africa’s diplomatic center because the city demonstrated progress in digital technology implementation and energy solutions.
Key Resolutions and Commitments
The international tourism leaders at the conference decided to work together on multiple vital projects through their signed agreement.
The national tourism policies and legal frameworks will include resilience frameworks through their implementation of crisis preparedness and risk assessment and business continuity planning for destination management.
The organization will secure sustainable financing, which will fund resilient infrastructure and digital transformation projects and climate adaptation programs through partnerships with public and private entities and by creating specialized Tourism Resilience Funds.
Organizations will use data, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics for crisis anticipation and response through their information systems and knowledge-sharing platforms, which include Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centres.
The organization will advance climate adaptation measures and climate mitigation measures while protecting biodiversity and wildlife and cultural heritage which will lead to regenerative tourism models that improve travel destinations.
The organization will promote participation of all social groups by creating opportunities for women, youth, indigenous people and vulnerable groups to help develop resilience strategies and create employment opportunities and build up community tourism programs.
The region will improve its crisis response operations by developing standardized protocols which will lead to better cross-border operations and international tourism resilience efforts.
