The county Government of Taita Taveta has been urged to create synergy with different stakeholders and the public at large, in readiness for implementation of the revised Taita Taveta 2019 County Valuation Roll.
Speaking during the closure of a two day sensitization workshop for County staff drawn from the Lands, Revenue and Internal audit departments, National Deputy director lands and valuation Herbert Were ,said the move will see the County tap more revenue in land and property ratings, and further have well planned Towns.
Ag. Chief Officer for Lands Leonard Langat noted that the county will put all modalities in place in preparation of public participation,projected to start January 2023.
“As we embark on this process we want to follow all the due process of the law to avoid unnecessary hitches during the implementation period,bearing in mind there are areas with no clear data on ownership.
Taita Taveta county is keen to enhance its own source revenue collection through land rates and this comes amid formulation of 2023 county finance bill he concluded.
Staff present have also been taken through the legal framework governing rating process, upon which the Trainers of Trainees (TOT) will roll out a countywide public participation exercise on the revised 2019 Taita Taveta County Valuation Roll.
Eldoret Media Hub, a working space for journalists based in Uasin Gishu County set up by the Uasin Gishu Journalists Association (UGJA) through a Media Council of Kenya (MCK) grant.
The facility was officially opened in August 2021 by the MCK Chief Executive Officer David Omwoyo.
