Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka led a joint political tour through Vihiga and Kakamega counties Wednesday, July 3, as part of a national campaign rallying support for what they describe as Kenya’s “liberation cause.”

The visit, marked by large turnouts and moments of tension, brought together several opposition figures including Democratic Action Party–Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Attorney General Justin Muturi and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Speaking at the conclusion of the Kakamega tour, Kalonzo said the coalition’s mission was to promote justice and national unity.

“Yesterday in Vihiga and Kakamega, we witnessed the strength of people who want better and deserve better,” Kalonzo said. “Goons were sent to block us, but they were met by the brave and patriotic Gen Z front, who stood tall and unshaken.”

Gachagua echoed the sentiment in a social media post, thanking residents for their support.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the incredible people of Vihiga and Kakamega counties for your warm hospitality and love,” he wrote. “Your enthusiasm fuels our journey towards a better Kenya.”

The joint tour signals growing cooperation among opposition leaders as they aim to expand their reach across regions ahead of future political contests.
