Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, has called on Kenyan leaders to set aside personal interests and embrace unity, integrity, and national renewal.
Speaking at the 2025 National Prayer Breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Wetang’ula emphasized the urgent need for moral leadership and shared responsibility in tackling the country’s challenges.
The high-profile event was attended by President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Members of Parliament, religious leaders, and international guests.
Addressing President Ruto directly, Wetang’ula encouraged him to remain firm in the face of rising criticism.
He quoted Isaiah 54:17—“No weapon formed against you shall prosper”—to reaffirm his support and urge the President to stay focused on Kenya’s long-term goals.
He also praised Samuel Chepkong’a and Senator Dan Maanzo, the event’s organizers, for creating what he described as a powerful moment of spiritual reflection and national recommitment.
“This gathering is more than a tradition—it offers divine direction and renews the values that unite us,” Wetang’ula said. This year’s theme, “Rise and Rebuild,” framed much of Wetang’ula’s message.
He stressed that rebuilding the nation is a collective responsibility, not a task for the government alone.“It starts with each of us—our values, our conscience, and our duty to this country,” he noted.
He concluded by urging Kenyans to remain hopeful, united, and committed to truth, justice, and compassion as the foundation for a stronger future.
