On Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim announced a significant reorganization of the Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee.

This move is designed to enhance efficiency, improve service delivery, and strengthen governance across key departments.

In a bold step under Section 35 of the County Government Act, 2012, the governor nominated two new officials to the County Executive Committee.

Janet Kurgat has been appointed as the CEC Member for Public Service Management, Administration, and Devolved Units, while Robert Rotich Kemei will now serve as the CEC Member for Youth Affairs, Sports, ICT, and Innovation.

These new faces bring fresh energy and a renewed commitment to critical sectors such as youth empowerment, public administration, and digital innovation—areas essential for Eldoret’s continued growth.

Beyond the new appointments, Governor Bii has also carried out strategic reshuffles within the executive committee under Section 31(b)(a) of the same Act.

Three key departmental heads have been reassigned: Dr. Abraham Serem will now lead the department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works; Eng. Joseph Lagat transitions to the Health Services docket; and Eng. Lucy Ngendo Njoroge takes charge of Education, Vocational Training, Gender, Social Protection, and Culture.

The reshuffle aims to align leadership talent with departmental needs, ensuring that services are delivered more effectively and closer to the people.

For Eldoret residents, these changes could bring tangible benefits. Improved road management may ease transport in busy areas like Kapseret and Moiben, while revamped healthcare services could mean shorter wait times at facilities such as Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

With enhanced focus on ICT and sports, young people may find better access to training programs and job opportunities, especially around landmarks like Kipchoge Stadium.

Governor Bii has emphasized that the reorganization is part of a broader vision to boost public confidence in county governance. By placing the right leaders in the right roles, his administration seeks to foster a culture of accountability and responsive service delivery.
