Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has publicly criticized Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku over what he termed as unconstructive criticism of the government’s ongoing development efforts.
Speaking during a gathering of over 5,000 elders in Embu, an event organized by two local leaders, Kindiki expressed disappointment at Ruku’s recent remarks.
The CS reportedly accused the government of neglecting infrastructure development in certain areas, particularly referring to the region’s lack of tarmac roads.
Kindiki responded firmly, stating that as a member of the cabinet, Ruku should be offering solutions, not inciting the public.“You are part of the cabinet, so you’re supposed to be giving solutions, not inciting the public,” Kindiki said.
He reminded the CS that all development concerns should be addressed through appropriate government channels rather than through public appeals.
He urged Ruku to exercise decorum in public engagements, emphasizing that their positions come with great responsibility.
“The president has entrusted us with a flag—not a piece of cloth,” he added, underscoring the symbolic importance of their roles in leadership.
Earlier in the day, the Deputy President had attended a church service where he reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to national development.
He highlighted the progress of over 400 market projects underway across the country, with 14 currently being developed in Meru County.
Following the Embu event, Kindiki proceeded to Kiambu County, where he met with boda boda operators and mama mboga saccos in Ndumberi.
The engagement was part of an ongoing empowerment initiative aimed at supporting informal sector traders.
In his closing remarks, Kindiki urged local communities and traders to support the Kenya Kwanza government, expressing confidence that the administration will deliver on its promises.
“This government is committed to fulfilling its development pledges,” he said.
