The 2025 Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) Organs Meeting officially commenced today with a high-profile opening ceremony at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Headquarters in Kigali.

The event was inaugurated by the Inspector General of Rwanda National Police, Commissioner General Felix Namuhoranye, who welcomed distinguished delegates from across the Eastern Africa region.

In his opening remarks, Namuhoranye emphasized the critical importance of regional collaboration in tackling complex and evolving transnational crimes that threaten peace and security across borders.

Among the notable attendees is Mr. Mohamed Amin, the Director of Criminal Investigations from Kenya, who joined other members of the EAPCCO Permanent Coordinating Committee in representing their respective member states.

The three-day meeting, running from Tuesday, May 22nd to Friday, May 24th, brings together top law enforcement officials and experts to deliberate on key strategies to combat transnational crime.

Discussions will center around enhancing intelligence sharing, improving joint operational capabilities, and reinforcing collaborative mechanisms across the region.

Participants are expected to review ongoing security challenges, assess past interventions, and propose forward-looking policies to bolster collective law enforcement efforts.

The meeting also serves as a platform to reinforce the organization’s commitment to regional peace and security.

EAPCCO, which brings together police chiefs and senior officers from Eastern African nations, plays a central role in promoting cooperation and coordination in criminal investigations and security operations within the region.

As the meeting progresses, stakeholders are optimistic that the outcomes will translate into more effective cross-border policing and a safer Eastern Africa for all.
