The victims of the Eldoret-based First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency have urged Government to fast truck the probe into the Agency’s scandal that has left many youth penniless.
They youth claim they had paid thousands of money to the agency to secure job opportunities at Qatar and other countries but a majority of them did not secure visas and were never refunded back their money.
An Ad hoc committee was formed by the Uasin Gishu County government following a petition filled by the victims with the support of Kimutai Kirui a human rights activist with the Center against torture and has since probed the matter extensively,
However the First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency Managing Director, Judith Jepchirchir, did not appear before the committee as requested citing a busy schedule and her first appearance the director who was accompanied by her lawyer could not satisfy the ad hoc committee in her responses prompting the committee to accord her more time to avail relevant documents supporting her responses.
The director however did not turn up as scheduled to furnish the committee with the relevant details.
Huruma Member of County Assembly Kimani Wanjohi who is also a member of the ad hoc committee said that the law would take its course.

“We have been probing this petition and all the individuals involved , including Judy the director of first choice recruitment agency, concerning the issue of failing to meet the needs of youth who had been promised jobs in Qatar through her agency, but we are disappointed by the fact that she has failed
to turn up despite being summoned, the law will however take its course, even if she will not
come”,said Kimani
Speaking to the media, Kimani further said the ad hoc committee was due to release its report and findings.
“The way forward to this issue will be decided by the committee, I urge you to remain patient as we
seek a solution to it”, The MCA informed the victims.
Lameck Kogo a victim expressed their confidence in the Assembly’s ad hoc committee and called for expedited justice.

“I paid for my brother to secure a job in Qatar , but I was arrested in the course of claiming my
rights to have back the money following the botched travel , I want to ask president William Ruto to deal with such Cartels effectively and without mercy”, said Kogo.
Agnes korir a parent to one of the victims also claimed that they had been in and out of Judy’s
offices concerning that issue, but the office had however been closed and relocated elsewhere.
She also wanted to be refunded back the money as she had struggled hard to
get it.
Kimutai Kirui of the center against torture has expressed optimism in the justice system saying the Victims will finally get justice after a long delay,
“The study/work abroad Poland/Qatar/UK/Canada in Kenya is a huge con game that must be dealt a big blow. We therefore urge anyone who paid money to any recruitment agency across Kenya “kindly walk into the nearest police station and make a formal complaint/entry”
Kimutai further rushed out against Human rights organizations in Eldoret that he claims had been compromised to defeat the course of justice.
“For the many compromised “Human Rights ” organization in Eldoret shame on you .a new Crop of defenders are rising…sons of the land… we know many of you work for political class, are in various government committees and many are in Uasin Gishu disguised as defenders but are businessmen – shape up or ship out!” Said Kimutai.
