In a recent development, leaders from Uasin Gishu County have voiced strong criticism against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, condemning his recent statements as divisive and inflammatory.

Benjamin Natui, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ng’enyilel Ward, accused Gachagua of inciting the public and attempting to sow discord within the nation.

Natui expressed concerns over Gachagua’s intentions, suggesting that instead of contributing positively to national development, he is engaging in actions that could destabilize the country.

He urged Gachagua to refrain from antagonizing the current administration and to await the 2027 general elections if he seeks to pursue leadership roles.

“Rigathi Gachagua has no intentions to help out Kenyans, and if he is ready, then we shall meet in the 2027 ballot,” Natui stated.

The MCA also called upon citizens to exercise caution and critical thinking when listening to political leaders, warning that some may be manipulators and liars.

He emphasized the importance of unity and the need to support the government’s efforts in implementing development projects across the country.

These remarks come in the wake of Gachagua’s public criticism of President William Ruto’s administration, particularly concerning the rise in corruption cases.
Gachagua has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of corruption, even going as far as stating that he will ensure President Ruto becomes a one-term president.

The tension between Gachagua and the current administration has been escalating. In October 2024, Gachagua faced impeachment proceedings initiated by the National Assembly, where he was accused of corruption, incitement of ethnic divisions, and supporting anti-government protests.

The motion garnered significant support, with 282 out of 349 MPs voting in favor of his removal.

Following the impeachment motion, Gachagua defended himself in parliament, denying all charges and asserting that the allegations were politically motivated.

He emphasized his commitment to serving the nation and indicated plans to challenge the impeachment decision in court.

The political landscape in Kenya remains tense, with internal conflicts within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) coming to the forefront.

The strained relationship between Gachagua and President Ruto has led to public disagreements, further highlighting the divisions within the party.

As the nation approaches the 2027 general elections, political leaders and citizens alike are urged to prioritize unity and focus on collaborative efforts to address the pressing issues facing the country.

The government’s commitment to development projects remains a focal point, and leaders are encouraged to support these initiatives for the betterment of all Kenyans.
