Uasin Gishu County Government Counts Losses Following Anti-Tax Protests

“As a county, we have encountered numerous losses,” a security officer reported.

The Uasin Gishu county government is reeling from significant losses following anti-tax protests that led to widespread destruction of property.

According to sources , three county vehicles were torched, and protestors stormed the National Bank building, destroying several items, although they did not gain access to the bank itself. The county court was also set on fire after protestors clashed with security and gained access to the county government offices.

“As a county, we have encountered numerous losses,” a security officer reported.

In response to the unrest, police have been deployed to guard county government offices, including Governor Jonathan Bii’s office.

Church leaders, led by Zablon Malema, have called for calm and dialogue in the region. “Kenya is our motherland, therefore we need to reason together and avoid destroying our nation,” said Malema.
