Nairobi County to Cover Costs for Injured and Deceased, as 12 Lie in County Morgue
Silantoi also reported that at least 51 people were treated at county hospitals and discharged. However, three people remain admitted at Mbagathi Hospital and seven at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.

The Nairobi City County Government has confirmed the reception of twelve bodies following the anti-finance bill demonstrations held in the city yesterday. Six bodies were taken to the City Mortuary, and six to the Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary, all bearing gunshot wounds.
Speaking at the City Mortuary during an assessment visit, Nairobi Health CEC Suzanne Silantoi confirmed the numbers and stated that the County would cover the costs for those injured and being treated at county facilities, as well as for those deceased and currently in the morgue.
“The 12 were received yesterday by the respective mortuary attendants in the respective facilities: 6 at Mama Lucy and 6 at City Mortuary,” Silantoi confirmed.
Silantoi also reported that at least 51 people were treated at county hospitals and discharged. However, three people remain admitted at Mbagathi Hospital and seven at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
“Some who were received had soft tissue injuries and were treated and released. However, the ten, three at Mbagathi and seven at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, are responding positively to treatment,” Silantoi added.
To support those affected during the protests, Nairobi County, in collaboration with other stakeholders, set up two camps at Holy Family Basilica and Jamia Mall. These camps provided first aid, and if necessary, transported the injured to various county hospitals. The County also stationed five ambulances and twelve medics at the sites to ensure timely medical assistance.
