Detectives from Embakasi Police Station have arrested two prime suspects linked to a daring Sh17.6 million heist that occurred on April 20, 2025, at a godown within the Atlantic Business Park in Embakasi.

The suspects, identified as James Macharia Mwangi and Keriko Wanjama, were apprehended following a tip-off and a detailed forensic investigation.

The theft came to light when employees of Aetlantiq Group Limited returned from the Easter holiday to discover that Godown No. 16 and No. 17 had been broken into.

Shockingly, assorted electronics and office equipment had been stolen, including 363 units of 43-inch Hisense televisions, 20 units of 20-inch HB TVs, 11 HS 218 soundbars, four HP laptops, desktop computers, mobile phones, school bags, spare parts, and CCTV servers.

Police investigations revealed that the thieves gained access to the premises by cutting through the iron sheet roof and strategically entering the storerooms and accounts office.

Alarmingly, the on-site security personnel, who are currently missing, responded to the triggered alarm but failed to alert the authorities — raising suspicions of possible inside collaboration.

Following an intensive manhunt, the two suspects were arrested at a hideout in Scorpion Den Hotel, Ruai. A significant portion of the stolen goods was recovered from the premises, including 269 Hisense 43-inch TVs, 65 Hisense 55-inch A6 TVs, two Hisense 65-inch Q6 TVs, eight Hisense 58-inch A6 TVs, seven Hisense 32-inch A4 TVs, and more soundbars and speakers.

Also recovered was a white Mitsubishi FH truck, registration number KAV 565Q, which was found loaded with the stolen electronics.

The suspects are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment, as detectives intensify efforts to track down the missing security guards and other possible accomplices involved in the robbery. The recovered goods and vehicle are being held as evidence.

Police have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring that all individuals linked to the heist are brought to justice, while investigations into the wider criminal network remain ongoing.
