Queen of Angels Primary School in Riverside Village, Kaptebee Location, Turbo Sub-County, has been closed indefinitely following a tragic incident in which a school latrine collapsed, with three pupils feared dead. The incident occurred earlier today, amid heavy rainfall experienced across parts of Uasin Gishu County.
Emergency teams are currently at the scene conducting search and rescue operations as efforts continue to locate and retrieve the missing pupils. The situation has drawn the attention of local authorities, with top education and security officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, visiting the school to assess the damage and coordinate response efforts.
A senior education officer described the incident as “deeply distressing” and pledged a full investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and ensure accountability.
The school has been ordered closed until further notice as comprehensive safety inspections are carried out across all infrastructure.
