Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has urged political and religious leaders to stop inciting Kenyan youths. Ruku warned that divisive rhetoric, especially along tribal lines, undermines national unity, Sunday, June 30.
“Those who are inciting the young people through tribal groupings and balkanization, Kenya is one nation, one people and one flag,” Ruku said during a public address.
He voiced concern over church leaders encouraging youth protests, noting that destabilization could lead to national collapse. “We cannot sit and look at our nation going to the dogs. If our country is destroyed, the church and all of us will have no country,” he said. “I get worried when I see a church and bishops saying let’s go there and protest, it can’t be like that.”
The cabinet secretary emphasized the government’s respect for religious institutions and called for dialogue. “We the leaders of Kenya have a lot of respect for the church. Our bishops, we have a responsibility to ensure everything that happened is solved amicably,” he said.
Ruku also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving lives and delivering on President William Ruto’s development pledges.
