Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of highly rated young defender Dean Huijsen on a five-year contract, set to run until June 2030.

The club announced on Saturday that the agreement is effective from June 1st, 2025, with the Dutch-Spanish centre-back expected to be available for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Huijsen, 19, joins Los Blancos after impressing with his development and performances at youth and senior levels.

Known for his composure on the ball, tactical intelligence, and aerial strength, Huijsen is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising defensive talents.

While specific details of the transfer fee have not been disclosed, the acquisition is seen as a strategic move by Real Madrid to strengthen their backline for the future.

The young defender is expected to initially integrate into the first-team rotation under Carlo Ancelotti, especially as the club prepares for a demanding 2025–26 campaign that includes domestic competitions, the UEFA Champions League, and the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.

Huijsen will join a squad that continues to blend youth and experience, alongside talents like Éder Militão, Antonio Rüdiger, and Nacho Fernández.

His arrival aligns with Real Madrid’s recent trend of investing in young, high-potential players, a philosophy that has also brought in stars like Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, and Endrick in recent years.

Huijsen’s eligibility for the FIFA Club World Cup is considered a major boost, as Real Madrid aim to secure more international silverware and maintain their dominance on the global stage.

Fans and analysts have welcomed the announcement, with many seeing the move as a statement of intent by the Spanish giants to ensure long-term stability and competitiveness in defence.

Real Madrid will present Huijsen to the media at the Santiago Bernabéu in early June, where he is expected to undergo his official unveiling and training ahead of the pre-season schedule.
