Ancelotti Praises Barcelona’s La Liga Triumph Under Flick

Real Madrid   immediate former Manager Carlo Ancelotti has lauded FC Barcelona’s performance in securing the 2024–25 La Liga title, acknowledging their consistent and attractive playing style.
Barcelona clinched the championship with a 2–0 victory over RCD Espanyol on May 15, 2025, under the guidance of coach Hansi Flick. This triumph marked the club’s 28th league title and completed a domestic double, having also won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup .

Ancelotti, who is set to depart Real Madrid at the end of the season to take over as Brazil’s national team coach, expressed his admiration for Barcelona’s achievements.

He commended their tactical discipline and attacking prowess, stating, “They were the most consistent team in the league and played very beautiful football. Yes, they deserved to win this title” .

Barcelona’s success was built on a solid foundation, with the team scoring 97 goals in 36 league matches, outpacing Real Madrid by 23 goals. Their dominance was particularly evident in away games, where they secured 13 wins, 3 draws, and only 2 losses, amassing 45 goals and conceding 19. Notable victories included a 4–0 triumph over Real Madrid and a 4–2 win against Atlético Madrid .

Under Flick’s leadership, Barcelona adopted an aggressive high-pressing strategy, reminiscent of his successful tenure at Bayern Munich. The squad featured a blend of seasoned professionals like Robert Lewandowski and emerging talents such as Lamine Yamal and Pedri. Flick’s emphasis on teamwork and resilience was instrumental in the team’s ability to overcome early-season challenges and secure the title .

Ancelotti acknowledged the challenges faced by Real Madrid during the season, including injuries and a lack of consistency. Despite these setbacks, he praised his team’s perseverance and commitment. Looking ahead, Ancelotti remarked, “Next season is gonna be a different story,” signaling his intent to build a stronger squad capable of competing for top honors .
