Police Officer Arrested After Fatally Shooting Girlfriend and Another Man in Uasin Gishu
The officer was disarmed and arrested shortly after the shooting by fellow officers who responded to the scene.

A police officer from Tembelio Police Post is in custody after allegedly shooting dead his girlfriend and another man in a suspected love triangle gone wrong.
The incident occurred around midnight at Kokwet Bar, a local establishment a located at Jua kali area reportedly owned by the female victim. According to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi, the officer confronted his girlfriend over suspicions of infidelity. When a second man attempted to intervene and defuse the situation, the officer allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting both.
“The officer used his official firearm in the incident. Both victims died on the spot,” said Commander Mwanthi in a statement.
The officer was disarmed and arrested shortly after the shooting by fellow officers who responded to the scene. He is currently being held at a local police station as investigations continue.
“This is a tragic case, and investigations are underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the shooting,” Mwanthi added.
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret for postmortem examinations.
Authorities have condemned the act and assured the public that justice will be served.
