Police Launch Probe After 68-Year-Old Man Found Murdered in Endebess, Wife Abducted and Later Found in Kitale

Detectives in Trans Nzoia County have launched investigations into the murder of a 68-year-old man who was found killed inside his house at Kiptugut Farm in Kimase Village, Twiga Location, Endebess Sub-County.
The deceased was identified as Joseph Njenga. He was found dead in his matrimonial bed on August 30 after unknown assailants reportedly attacked his home.
According to police, officers who visited the scene established that Njenga had sustained three deep cut wounds on the right side of his head, near the ear. The main door to the house was found open, raising questions about how the attackers gained entry and what transpired before and after the killing.
Police also established that Njenga’s wife was abducted during the incident. She was later found in Kitale town, with police saying they are investigating the circumstances under which she was taken and how she ended up in Kitale.
The Crime Scene Investigation team documented and processed the scene as detectives commenced investigations into both the killing and the alleged abduction. The body was removed from the scene and taken to Crystal Cottage Mortuary in Kitale pending postmortem examination. Police said on Tuesday that they are working to establish the motive behind the attack.
In a separate incident, police in Migori County are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed while leaving a music concert.
The victim, identified as Hezron Luvonga, a cleaner at a local hotel, was attacked at about 1 a.m. on Sunday while leaving a Prince Indah concert at a hotel in Suna West Sub-County. Police say Luvonga was stabbed in the stomach with a knife by an unknown assailant.
He was rushed to Ombo Mission Hospital for first aid and later referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialised care, but succumbed to his injuries at about 3 a.m. on Sunday while undergoing treatment.
His body was moved to the facility’s mortuary pending a postmortem examination. Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances of the stabbing and to identify and apprehend the assailant. The motive was not immediately established.
Elsewhere, the body of a man who had been reported missing was recovered from River Ngong in the Kingston area of Nairobi.
The deceased was identified as Jayson Maina, whose disappearance had been reported at Lungalunga Police Station on August 26.
According to police, the body was spotted floating in the river by members of the public, who retrieved it from the water and alerted officers. Police established that the body belonged to Maina, who had been listed as a missing person.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the City Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death are ongoing.
Police have appealed to members of the public with information on all three incidents to come forward to assist with investigations.
