Murkomen to Opposition: Stop Meddling with IEBC, Sell Your Policies Instead
Murkomen defended the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development record, saying President William Ruto’s track record was unmatched.

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has accused the Opposition of interfering with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), calling on political leaders to respect the independence of the electoral body.
Speaking on Sunday at Kapsamoo in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County, Murkomen said some Opposition figures were overstepping their role by attempting to dictate how the IEBC should operate.
“You see someone talking about the IEBC. He wants to be the contractor, candidate, and referee at the same time,” Murkomen said.
The CS faulted the Opposition for what he termed a lack of a clear agenda, saying leaders should focus on presenting alternative ideas to Kenyans rather than attacking institutions.
“I’m surprised to see young people of my age campaigning and saying that a manifesto is not important,” he said. “There has never been an Opposition that is as poor in ideas and policies as what we have right now.”
Murkomen defended the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development record, saying President William Ruto’s track record was unmatched.
“They want to challenge President Ruto, whose track record is second to none,” he added.
Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who was the chief guest at the interdenominational service and fundraising drive for infrastructure development for 22 churches, echoed Murkomen’s remarks.
The DP challenged Opposition leaders to present a manifesto and face the government on the basis of ideas and development.
“I want to ask those who want to compete with President Ruto to come up with a manifesto and tell the people of Kenya about their vision,” Prof. Kindiki said.
The event was attended by Governors Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu), Patrick Ole Ntutu (Narok), and Stephen Sang (Nandi); Principal Secretaries Belio Kipsang and Julius Bitok; Senators Jackson Mandago and Vincent Chemitei; MPs Oscar Sudi, Reuben Kiborek, William Kamket, and Joseph Wainaina; COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, MCAs and other leaders.
