The Ministry of Health has strongly refuted a viral job advertisement purportedly issued by the Social Health Authority (SHA), dismissing it as fake.
The notice, which circulated widely on social media platforms, claimed to offer various job positions under SHA, Kenya’s supposed “premier health provider.”
The Ministry clarified that the advertisement is a fraudulent scheme aimed at deceiving unsuspecting job seekers.
The fake job advert, emblazoned with the SHA logo and featuring Kenya’s official coat of arms, listed multiple vacancies, including positions such as human resource officers, social workers, and ICT officers.
It requested applicants to send their details to an email address before a December 8, 2024 deadline. However, a bold “FAKE” stamp placed over the notice has since been shared by the Ministry of Health, cautioning the public against falling prey to the scam.
In a public statement, the Ministry reaffirmed that the Social Health Authority does not exist as an entity under the Ministry’s structure or the Kenyan legal framework.
Officials emphasized that all official government job vacancies are announced exclusively through authorized channels, such as the Public Service Commission website or verified Ministry social media accounts.
The Ministry of Health also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious advertisements to relevant authorities.
“We are committed to protecting the public from scams and maintaining transparency in all hiring processes,” the Ministry stated.
It encouraged individuals seeking health-related employment to verify information through official government portals.
The public is advised to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal details or financial information in response to unsolicited job offers.
The Ministry reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on impersonation and fraud, pledging to collaborate with law enforcement to track down and prosecute individuals behind such schemes.
Kenya’s Ministry of Health remains dedicated to providing accurate and verified information to citizens and safeguarding the welfare of job seekers.
As the festive season approaches, the public is reminded to remain cautious about the proliferation of scams, particularly those exploiting government branding.
For updates and inquiries, Kenyans are urged to follow official Ministry platforms and report fraud through hotlines provided by the government.
