Following a directive by Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. Kithure Kindiki on March 4th, 2024, a significant number of police officers have been transferred from Uasin Gishu County. HubzMedia has confirmed that at least 600 officers were reassigned effective March 8th, Friday.

This move comes as part of a nationwide effort to address concerns about officers overstaying in their designated stations for more than three years. The CS expressed worries that prolonged station assignments can lead to officers developing “personal interests” that compromise their duties.

“These personal interests,” Kindiki stated, “can impede their effectiveness in fulfilling their mandates as law enforcement authorities.” He went on to allege that some officers even turn a blind eye to criminal activities, engaging in corruption through bribes from criminals they are meant to apprehend.

This large-scale transfer aims to reinvigorate police effectiveness in Uasin Gishu County and potentially other regions across Kenya.
