Linking Busia County to the Global world;Kenya Investment Authority

Speaking during a courtesy call to the new committee member for Trade,Industry, Investment and Cooperative Olekachuna Omuse, Western Kenya regional manager Kenya Investment Authority Laban Mburu stated that the move will map Busia  county to the global world and enable it to link with investors.

 

“We also do due diligence by vetting the potential investors to avoid loss of public funds to conmen and brokers,”said Mburu.

 

He added that they are exploring a partnership and co-operation with Busia county government in areas of profiling the investment opportunities,capacity building of staffs in certain department through Private Public Partnership.(PPP)

 

The Busia County committee member for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives Olekachuna Omuse hailed the initiative noting that the county will utilize the available opportunities for investment.

 

“Busia being a gateway to East and Central Africa has the potential to become the business hub by profiling the existing investment opportunities to attract the investors,” stated Olekachuna.

 

The acting chief officer trade and Cooperatives Oscar Odaba disclosed that the Busia county third generation County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) has captured all the priority projects that are earmarked for implementation.

 

Mr.Odaba noted that they are ready to submit the proposal of the investment opportunities to Kenya Investment Authority for profiling to seek both local and international partners.

 

“Busia being an Agricultural county we need to invest in a big wholesale hub for agricultural products,” added Odaba.
