Kenya Ports Authority KPA has launched a food donations program aimed at helping disadvantaged communities in the coastal region during this holy month of Ramadhan.
KPA managing director, Captain William Kipkemboi Ruto, said the food stuff that includes wheat flour, maize flour, sugar, rice, and cooking oil, among other household commodities are all valued at Ksh 3 Million.
Speaking at the port premises during the flagging off exercise, captain Ruto said the move also is a response to the president’s ongoing call to corporate organizations to assist the less fortunate in the community particularly in areas that were hard hit by persistent drought.

He said the donation will be distributed among the coastal region counties starting Wednesday.
His sentiments were echoed by the deputy chair of the Supreme Council of Muslims Supkem sheikh Muhdhari Kitammy, asking more philanthropists to extend a helping hand to the poor and underprivileged in the country especially this time when the cost of living has shot up.
