Kindiki Confirms UDA Grassroots Elections in 18 Counties
County party members will select polling center representatives who will serve as leaders for their local grassroots committees throughout their counties.

Kithure Kindiki, who serves as Deputy President, declared that United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections will take place on March 14, 2026, across 18 counties as the ruling party establishes its internal leadership framework.
Prof. Kindiki explained to the media at the party’s headquarters in Hustler Plaza Nairobi that the election process enables party members to choose their representatives from polling centers which helps the party establish better grassroots representation through its democratic processes.
People will vote in elections which will occur throughout Samburu County, Trans Nzoia County, Vihiga County, Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Baringo County, Uasin Gishu County, Nandi County, Kericho County, Bomet County, Nyandarua County, Laikipia County, Meru County, Tharaka Nithi County, Embu County, Kirinyaga County, Nyeri County, Murang’a County and Kiambu County.

Prof. Kindiki explained that UDA elections function as part of the party’s comprehensive plan which aims to increase democratic participation and enable members to choose their leaders. He stressed that the party aims to develop internal democratic processes which allow UDA representatives at all tiers to gain authentic support from party members.
The exercise supports the economic empowerment system which the party intends to implement through its bottom-up strategy.
The Deputy President conducted the meeting to assess Grassroots Elections Preparedness Status Update at the party headquarters for UDA Party Leader and President William Ruto.
According to party officials, all preparations for the exercise have been finalized, with designated officials expected to supervise the voting process at polling centres across the 18 counties.
The UDA leaders announced that grassroots elections will improve the party’s organizational system which helps political activities while allowing local members to participate in party decision-making.
