Kiambu Couple Escapes Death After Stray Bullet Rips Through Roof and Lands Beside Bed
Detectives have launched investigations into the incident which has left residents of Isiolo Street in Kiamumbi in shock.

A couple in Kiamumbi, Kiambu County, narrowly escaped death after a stray bullet pierced through the roof of their house and landed inside their bedroom as they slept.
Detectives have launched investigations into the incident which has left residents of Isiolo Street in Kiamumbi in shock.
According to police, the incident came to light after the couple, both primary school teachers, reported the matter to Kiamumbi Police Station. The wife told officers that she discovered what appeared to be a bullet head lying beside their bed while she was cleaning the bedroom in the morning.
Officers from Kiamumbi Police Station visited and processed the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that the bullet penetrated both the iron sheet roof and the ceiling before falling into the bedroom, leaving visible holes on both surfaces.
Police confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident, but said the couple was left shaken after realizing how close they came to tragedy.
“The bullet is believed to be a 9mm. It ripped through the roof and ceiling and landed beside the bed where the couple was sleeping. We thank God no one was hurt,” a police officer privy to the investigations said.
The bullet head was recovered as an exhibit and has been forwarded for ballistic examination. Police say the ballistic report is expected to help determine the source of the bullet and the firearm from which it was fired.
Investigators are now working to establish where the shot originated from and the circumstances under which it was fired, amid concerns over increasing cases of stray bullets in residential areas.
The incident comes just hours after another shooting incident was reported at Gikomba Market in Nairobi, where two people were injured during a shootout between police officers and suspected robbers.
According to police, the Gikomba incident occurred near Daraja Ndogo Bridge at around noon after officers on patrol responded to reports that a group of about seven armed men were allegedly robbing traders and members of the public.
Police said officers encountered the group and fired a warning shot into the air. The suspects reportedly opened fire as they fled, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire.
During the incident, two people sustained gunshot injuries. One person was shot in the left buttock and lower abdomen, while the other was shot in the right thigh.
The two were rushed to Pumwani Majengo Health Centre where they received first aid before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital. Police said both victims were in stable condition.
Officers who visited the scene recovered a pistol magazine loaded with two rounds of ammunition, which was retained as an exhibit. No arrests had been made by the time of publishing.
Police in both Kiambu and Nairobi say investigations are ongoing.
