Kerio valley:Murder suspect urges judge to speedily determine his fate!

A 31-year old mango farmer linked to the brutal killing of a woman he found harvesting the produce in his farm shocked a court when he told Eldoret High Court Judge John Wananda,that had reclined his fate to him.
Fredrick Cheserek asked the Judge to give a date for the speedy hearing and determination of his case saying that he was no longer interested in pursuing being released on bond.
Through his lawyer Amos Songok, the suspect who is an orphan told the court that he has no family member to stand surety for him since his parents succumbed to banditry attacks in Kerio Valley region.
“I lost my father and mother through deadly banditry attacks in the volatile Kerio Valley and other family members have fled the region for safety in the escarpment,” said Cheserek.
He brought to the attention of the court that due to the volatile security situation in Kerio Valley, none of his remaining family members will manage to travel to Eldoret and stand surety for him.
Cheserek has denied hacking to death Alice Pokot using a panga on the fateful day of December 8, 2021 at Keu village, in Keben sub location, Marakwet East, Elgeyo Marakwet county.
The suspect was arrested by a team of police detectives in his hide-outs in connection with the killing of the deceased after he cornered her in his farm harvesting his mango fruits in a sack.
He is said to have confronted the deceased while demanding to know why she was harvesting his mango fruits in the farm without his permission.
An altercation ensued between the duo whereupon the accused picked apanga and aimed it at the slain woman who hails from the neighboring West Pokot county, killing her on the spot before he fled from the scene and went into hiding.
The judge directed that the matter be mentioned on June 28, when he will fix the hearing date.
