Kenya’s athletics team delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 Doha Diamond League, earning accolades and national pride with a string of impressive victories.
President William Ruto led the nation in congratulating the athletes for their outstanding achievements on the international stage.
In a statement released following the event, President Ruto praised the team’s brilliance and competitive spirit, stating, “We salute our athletics team for representing us brilliantly at the 2025 Doha Diamond League, bringing home multiple victories. Your sterling performance has filled the nation with pride.”
Among the top performers was Reynold Cheruiyot, who secured a commanding win in the men’s 5,000 meters, continuing his rise as one of Kenya’s most promising long-distance stars.
In the women’s 1,500 meters, Nelly Chepchirchir clinched gold, showcasing her strength and strategic racing in a highly competitive field.
Susan Lokayo Ejore also made headlines, finishing as runner-up in the same 1,500 meters event, marking an impressive double podium finish for Kenya in that category.
Meanwhile, Faith Cherotich maintained Kenya’s dominance in the 3,000 meters steeplechase, securing a hard-fought victory with a powerful final lap surge.
In the men’s 800 meters, Wyclife Kinyamal delivered a commendable performance to finish as the second runner-up, reinforcing Kenya’s continued excellence in middle-distance races.
The Doha Diamond League, part of the World Athletics global calendar, brought together top-tier athletes from around the world. The Kenyan team’s strong showing underscores the country’s enduring status as an athletics powerhouse, especially in long and middle-distance events.
